80 Feet Deep Hole Threatens Freeland Homes

WYOU News 22 (WYOU.com)
Tuesday, March 22, 2005

One family evacuated and others on alert after an 80 feet deep hole opened up on Jennie Court in Freeland Tuesday night.

At first glance, it doesn`t look too bad. But after taking a closer look, emergency management officials determined the 20 by 30 feet wide hole is a big problem. Neighbors fear a repeat of the summer of 2000 when a 200 feet deep hole opened up on Centre Street.

The office of surface mining will be at the scene tomorrow, surveying the damage and trying to determine what to do next.
