The Capitol's East Wing Fountain turns pink to mark October as Breast Cancer Awareness Month. Soldier's Grove serves as a backdrop for the fountain
Lt. Gov. Catherine Baker Knoll could not attend the cermony marking 2008's Breast Cancer Awareness Month as she was hospitalized with neuroendocrine cancer, cancer of the interface between the endocrine (hormonal) and the nervous systems. Lt. Gov. Knoll succumbed to cancer on November 12, 2008.
