The American Lung Association (ALA) in Pennsylvania and Radon
Free Radon Test Kits still available, while supplies last

The ALA has been a partner with the PA DEP/Radon Division for many years in an effort to increase public awareness of radon, testing for radon, and mitigation of radon problems.

Pennsylvania Radon Action Month

January is National Radon Action Month and the Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) is urging Pennsylvanians to protect their families by testing for radon. Here is information about what radon is, how to test for radon and what steps need to be taken to eliminate the risk of radon.

We invite you to join us for the First Annual Region III Stakeholders Meeting. We look forward to seeing all interested parties concerned with protecting the public from unnecessary exposure to radon in homes, schools, public and private buildings.

Your host, the Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection (PA DEP), through a State Indoor Radon Grant from the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) brings you this NO COST meeting. Our goal is to bring together everyone/anyone who is interested in protecting the public from radon exposure.

National Radon Poster Contest

Each year the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency and Kansas State University co-sponsor the National Radon Poster Contest to encourage students aged 9 to 14 to submit original artwork to be used in radon awareness public service announcements.

The 2011 Contest winners were recently announced. Teachers and adult leaders of participating youth organizations are invited to participate in the upcoming 2012 contest. The artists creating the top three entries are awarded trips to Washington, DC, for a ceremony honoring their work in January 2012.

EPA's Radon Video Contest: Winning Entry

In July 2008, the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency asked for 30-60 second video submissions with the theme "Radon: Test, Fix, Save a Life" which encourage Americans to test and fix their homes for radon. The EPA received over 30 entries which you can view online.

The winning entry was "Eddie's Story" by Benjamin Schultz and Michael Gentilini.
