The Radiation Control Division ensures
the health and safety of persons exposed to sources of radiation by registering, licensing
and inspecting x-ray equipment and accelerators, registering vendor/service providers for radiation-producing machines, inspection of mammography x-ray machines and licensing and inspecting radioactive
material users.
This is an assembly of policies that were intended to eliminate difficulties of interpretation that have arisen during inspections when field staff have tried to enforce the regulations.
These policy documents are intended to help the Division of Radiation Control field staff apply the regulations uniformly throughout the state.
The Bureau of Radiation Protection will follow the guidelines contained in this document for the purpose of obtatining compliance with, and enforcing, the regulations which it administers.
The purpose of this document is to create Bureau-wide standard procedures for encouraging compliance with, and enforcing the regulations which the Bureau of Radiation Protection has the authority to administer.
