We look forward to seeing all interested parties concerned with protecting the public from unnecessary exposure to RADON in homes, schools, public and private buildings.

Your host, the Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection (PA DEP), through a State Indoor Radon Grant from the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) brings you this NO COST meeting. Our goal is to bring together everyone/anyone who is interested in protecting the public from RADON EXPOSURE.

  • Radon Fans:  Fundamentals and Selection    4 Credits (NEHA-NRPP Cat 1, NRSB Cat 1, PA DEP)
    • Wednesday April 4, 2012, 8:00 am – 12:00 pm
    • Presenter: Trudy Smith, Spruce Environmental
      • With green and Energy Star movements gaining momentum, it’s even more important that fans are chosen for their optimum performance in a building. Hands-on diagnostics will give the attendee practice in choosing a fan that will maximize performance while minimizing energy penalties. 4 hours

  • Never Enough QA/QC    4 Credits (NEHA-NRPP Cat 1, NRSB Cat 1, PA DEP)
    • Wednesday April 4, 2012, 1:00 pm – 5:00 pm
    • Presenter: Trudy Smith, Spruce Environmental
      • Time to revisit your QA/QC document and make sure it’s doing what it’s supposed to be doing: keeping your testing on track. Review what QA/QC is all about, why it’s so important, and how to make it as painless as possible. To receive credit for this course, bring either your laptop and an electronic version of your QA/QC document or bring a hard copy. 4 hours

  • All attendees are responsible for their own lodging. Hotels are available throughout the Harrisburg area.

  • Meters:
    • Parking is available throughout downtown Harrisburg at meters and parking garages. Meters in the Central Business District are $0.25 for 10 minutes or $1.50 per hour, with a two hour maximum.
  • Parking Garages:
  • City Island:
    • Low cost parking is available on City Island lot and garage, accessible by ramp at the midway point of the Market Street Bridge. An attendant is available for daily and monthly ticket purchases 6:00 AM to 3:00 PM. Rates are $5.00 daily and $3.00 after 1:00 PM. 11 handicap spaces available north of the Walnut Street Walking Bridge behind Riverside Stadium).  Garage has a Clearance Height of 8’2”.
    • Distance to RCSOB is an easy walk of about 1 mile, or shuttle service is available for $0.75 (exact change required).
