Recycled Christmas Ornament

Snowman from a Lightbulb (part 2)

Pulling the scok top up over the metal

7. Pull the sock top up (right side out) over the metal of the bulb.

8. Place a line of glue around the bulb where the glass meets the metal, and gently push the sock onto it to hold the sock in place.

Create top knot with sock with wire out middle

9. Using a needle threaded with matching thread, gather the top of the sock, making sure the loop of the wire protrudes from the middle of the gathered edge, creating a top knot for the hat.

10. From the remaining top of the sock, or from the foot area, cut a band 1 to 1½ inches wide for the scarf. Cut it open.

11. Glue one end to the front of the snowman, wrap the other end around and glue that end on top of the first.

Twist top loop further if needed

12. If necessary, twist the top loop further around to position the snowman on the tree so that it faces out.

Tip - To personalize the snowman, or have a family of them, cut the face from a snapshot of a child or loved one, and paste it just so it nudges under the cap. Then add stick figure arms instead of the tree limbs, and you have a one-of-a-kind ornament for this year's tree!
