Feature Programs in Air Quality

Air Quality Partnership
The Air Quality Partnership is a public/private coalition dedicated to improving air quality. This web site contains information on two of the most important pollutants found in Pennsylvania's air: ground-level ozone and fine particulate matter. Forecasts are made daily on the predicted levels of each pollutant.

Monitoring Air Pollutants
Pennsylvania and the federal government have set concentration standards for these principal pollutants to protect the public's health and to prevent environmental damage. To ensure these standards are being met, the Pennsylvania DEP monitors these principal pollutants.

Alternative Fuels Incentive Grants
The Alternative Fuels Incentive Grant (AFIG) Program provides financial assistance and information on alternative fuels and vehicles. Download the application, instructions, and guidelines for the AFIG Program.

Small Business Assistance
DEP has created the Small Business Assistance Program to assist small businesses with regulatory compliance, provide information about pollution prevention practices, and ensure that small business are considered when new regulations are developed.

Vehicle Emissions Inspection
To meet Pennsylvania's clean air goals, we have to reduce auto emissions that pollute our air. One way is to keep our cars in good working order. A properly inspected and maintained car operates more efficiently, uses less fuel, and reduces pollution.

Ragweed Pollen Program
August and September bring more than the end of the summer. These months mean watery eyes, sniffling, and other allergic reactions to airborne ragweed pollen during what is traditionally the hay fever season in Pennsylvania. This program helps Pennsylvanians by providing information on current ragweed pollen conditions.

Air Quality Permits
Various regulatory permits must be obtained in order to construct or operate equipment that will be an air pollutant source. Download permit applications and instructions.

Ozone Forecasting
Fine Particulate Forecasting
The Bureau of Air Quality forecasts both ozone and fine particulate pollution levels on a daily basis so you can plan accordingly!.
