Although the levels of radiation at the site fall above the lowest acceptable levels set by the Nuclear Regulatory Commission, the legacy radiation is not considered dangerous to the public.

The project will remove all residual low-level radioactive materials from laboratories, small pool-type research reactors, offices, decontamination areas, and waste processing and storage areas. All contaminated material will be disposed at an approved facility. The project is being performed under NRC guidelines to achieve an unrestricted release.
