Pennsylvania Mammography Fact Sheets

The Pennsylvania’s Department of Environmental Protection (DEP), via the Bureau of Radiation Protection (BRP) is tasked with seeing that mammography is a safe procedure throughout the Commonwealth. These fact sheets help explain BRP's role in regulating mammography in Pennsylvania.

- This Fact Sheet explains the need for each facility in Pennsylvania using x-ray equipment to have a Quality Assurance Program in place. DEP has selected the Quality Control Recommendations for Diagnostic Radiography Volumes 1, 2, and 3 from the Conference of Radiation Control Program Directors as acceptable reference documents for quality assurance programs.
