Erie Energy opened as a recycling/manufacturing operation in 1977. Annually 6-8 million pounds of waste paper are reprocessed. Most of this paper comes from municipalities, recycling centers, fund-raising groups and individuals located regionally near the company. Paper brokerage firms furnish specialty fibers and odd-lot grades. Newspapers, telephone books, pocket books, shopping bags, and selected types of cardboard and computer printout are all among the long fiber grades of waste paper recycled. Mills reduce the paper to a dry pulp and treat it with the solid or liquid components necessary to make theSpray Seal Logo Image finished product. Erie Energy now markets: loose fill and blowing insulation, spray-on insulation for thermal and acoustical control, hydroseeding mulch, and specialty industrial fibers.

What is Therm-Shield Cellulose Insulation?

Cellulose is a natural fiber found in the cell walls of all trees and plants. It is Mother Nature's own insulating material. Erie Energy Products recycles the cellulose found in select newsprint by processing it through special manufacturing mills which produce fine, short fibers. Then using their exclusive "Shield Cell" process the fibers are chemically treated to make them fire retardant and vermin and mildew resistant. Therm-Shield is a natural, non-toxic and non-corrosive,and is permanently flame-resistant- it's self-extinguishing properties will not diminish with age. Sprayer hose for insulation

Spray-Seal is a fire retardant cellulosic compound which is applied to interior surfaces with a water base latex adhesive. The new process for application of cellulose fibers provides an effectivemonolithic seal and actually becomes a main part of the building structure. Spray-Seal is designed and tested to meet the requirements for insulating commercial construction and can be applied up to 3 inches thick on ceilings and walls. Its unique adhesive enables it to hold fast to almost any surface: wood, metal, masonry, and glass.
