Allied Waste Recyclery services large areas in southeastern
Pennsylvania and is currently slated for an upgrade. The facility
employs approximately 50 people and is set up to process both
commingled and source separated material. The Recyclery is currently
processing approximately 8,000 - 9,000 tons of material a month.
Materials processed include clear, brown and green glass; tin
and aluminum cans; and plastic bottles marked with a plastics
recycling code of 1 or 2-materials that can be source separated
or commingled-as well as office paper, newspaper, and cardboard.
Once the materials are processed they are then marketed globally
using both truck and rail. Allied Waste also brokers material
from other facilities as well as for commercial entities.
The facility
has two scales and a number of different tipping areas, which
give haulers quick and easy access to the facility. The facility
also has strict safety regulations to ensure the safety of visiting
drivers as well as its own employees.
