Energy Efficiency Workshops in Philadelphia September 25-27: The Department of Energy’s Best Practices Program in partnership with American Institute of Chemical Engineers (AIChE) and American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME) is hosting a three-day energy efficiency seminar. Day 1: Pump System Assessment - Day 2: Fundamentals of Compressed Air Systems and Day 3: Steam System Improvement. Pennsylvania Metalcasting Vision: The Pennsylvania industries of the Future Metalcasting Vision 2002 is now available on the PPA IOF Web Sitea IOF website. The vision document was developed by Pennsylvania's Metalcasting academic champion, Penn State University with assistance from the Pennsylvania Foundry Association and Metal Casters from across Pennsylvania. Best Practices

New Best Practices Resources: DOE’s Best Practices Steam program announced An Updated Steam System Scoping Tool (version 1.0d). Version 1.0d assists steam operation and management personnel in assessing steam system operations against identified best practices.... Also, DOE’s Best Practices Steam program has developed the Steam System Survey Guide to help operations personnel and energy managers in identifying significant opportunities to improve their steam systems.

Pa Metalcasting IOF News
Online Road Mapping for Metal Casters: Penn State University will be attempting an innovative road mapping method by using an online road mapping tool. metal casters from across Pennsylvania will be able to interface and comment on the evolution of the metalcasting roadmap online in a bulletin board format. A new website www.ie.psu.edu/pmc will be dedicated to providing PA resources for metal casters and capturing the road mapping data. Pa Aluminum IOF News

Academic Champion Working for Pa: Dr. Wojciech Misiolek, academic champion for the Pa Aluminum Industries of the Future has been invited to attend the DOE and Aluminum Association U.S. Roadmap Meeting on September 4th & 5th 2002 in Pittsburgh, PA. Wojciech will continue to make contacts, bring the latest data and national perspectives to the Pa vision and roadmapping session to be held in Lehigh on September 18th.

Pa Coal Mining IOF News
Potential Academic Champion: DEP has received a proposal from Dr. Fred Pohland and Dr. Shiao-Hung Chiang of the University of Pittsburgh's Dominion Center for Environment and Energy. The proposal outlines the University of Pittsburgh's plan to take the lead on the Coal Mining Industries of the Future Implementation in Pennsylvania. If accepted, The PA Coal Mining IOF work will begin in the fall….More to Come! Find out more about the Pa IOF Coal Mining initiative.
