Administrative Items

Brent Ramsey noted his attendance at the April Meeting. Minutes will be amended.
Motion was made by George Fisanich to accept April 16 Minutes; seconded by Ricky Leese and passed unanimously.

Replacement for Marlin Ewing discussed. Act suggest appropriate to go back to original organization that nominated Mr. Ewing. Governor's office has responsibility to approve nominee.

State wide and Sub Committee meeting summaries
Robert Reichart provided an overview of meeting and noted that three sub committees were formed to act on important issues; Critical water planning, Public Outreach and Policy and Integration. Mr. Reichart has been appointed, in addition to public outreach committee, has been appointed to another committee. Joe Hoffman described the recent Policy and Integration Committee telephone conference call. Bill Gast summarized recent Critical Water Planning Committee conference call. Criteria are to be established by September. Criteria planned to be finalized in 2005.

DEP Summary of Activities
Stu Gansell provided update on registration, meetings coming up: Policy and Integration on June 29th, Critical Water Planning Committee on July 6th, Public Outreach on July 7th and State Wide Committee on July 22nd. Also provided was information on State and Federal budget items. Joe Hoffman added additional federal and the ICPRB budget items.

Public Participation
Phyllis Chant and Pat Naugle noted several public outreach opportunities that occurred.

Funding Request Letters
Final language is still being worked on with Charles Bennett and John Hines.

PCPG Act 220 Symposium
Jim Richenderfer gave highlights of the May symposium.

Committee Structure Proposal
Stu Gansell initiated proposal on whether the regional committee should set up parallel sub committees (workgroups) similar to those by the State Committee. Item was tabled for later in the meeting.

Bedford County Conservation District Presentation
Guy Stottlemyer, watershed specialist of the Bedford Count Conservation District made a presentation on Bedford County Watersheds that are in the Juniata and Potomac basins, watershed groups in the watersheds, watershed characteristics, issues and projects in them.

Somerset County Conservation District Presentation
Carl Jones, Watershed Specialist from Somerset County, gave a brief overview of watershed items within Somerset County.

Adams County Resolution for Marsh Creek
Noted were a January 25, 2004 letter from Gilbert L. Pringle, a May 7, 2004 letter from the Adams County Planning Commission regarding a designation of the Marsh Creek as a Critical Water Planning Area and draft response to Adams County Planning Commission from Charles Bennett. Discussion ensued regarding Mr. Bennett's draft letter.

Michael Christopher moved to accept Mr. Bennett's letter and send it out as is. Robert Reichart seconded. Motion passed unanimously.

Committee Structure Proposal
Phyllis Chant initiated discussion on what this committee wished to do relative to setting up regional sub committees/work groups. Upper Susquehanna and Delaware group has formed groups.

Michael Christopher moved that the committee table the proposal until a later time. William McLaughlin seconded. Passed.

Cumberland Maryland Presentation
Nancy Hausrath from the Cumberland MD Public Works Department made a presentation describing their water system, the Evitts Creek Watershed that supplies the water to the city as well as noting issues and responses to those issues within the watershed.

August Meeting
Next meeting on August 20th 10 AM at the Adams Co. Ag Center, Gettysburg.

Final Comments: Tim Schaeffer mentioned the Growing Greener program. Encouraged contacting legislators to support program.
