Membership in a professional association can help you to stay in touch with changes in you industry. Associations often offer many benefits to members including seminars, manuals, newsletters, magazines, and lending libraries at reasonable prices. Professional associations exist at various levels and often complement each other (in regards to services offered).

The following is a list of some professional associations and organizations that may be helpful to you. This list is not all inclusive, be sure to visit the DEP local government page for listings of associations that deal with local government issues.

  • Water Environment Federation (WEF)
    This is an international association dedicated to water environment issues. This association has many affiliates including state, regional and international associations.
  • Pennsylvania Water Environment Association (PWEA)
    This association is an affiliate of the Water Environment Federation (WEF) listed above. This association focuses in greater detail the issues that face Pennsylvania Water Pollution Control Professionals. This association also has three affiliated sectional (or regional) associations covering western, central & eastern Pennsylvania. The sections deal with issues even closer to home and often have regular meeting for members to enhance their knowledge base and to exchange ideas.
  • Pennsylvania Rural Water Association
    The PRWA is a affiliate of the National Rural Water Association with a focus on needs for Pennsylvania facilities. You may also call them at 800-653- PRWA
