New Business:

TAC member Gene Davis reported on his visit to West Virginia University to witness tests being conducted on a small diesel engine equipped with a "DCL" emission control system. Results of the testing are incomplete. Additional testing is planned for several larger diesel engines. The control technology that is being tested may offer some additional options for operators wishing to use diesel equipment.

Representatives from the CRG Group attended the meeting and discussed their plans on the use of diesel equipment at their Burrel Mine. The CRG representatives were advised of the approval process and the possible involvement of the TAC.

Old Business:

The Bureau of Deep Mine Safety advised the TAC that a positive response will be forthcoming on their November 25, 1997, recommendations for training under Section 211-A(c), "specially trained".

The next regularly-scheduled meeting will be held on April 15 at 9 a.m. in Uniontown.

The meeting adjourned at 11:08 a.m.
