Minutes of the October 22 meeting were approved.

The TAC unanimously recommended approval to the Bureau of Deep Mine Safety for the Brookville Mining Equipment Corporation’s alternative test procedure for CO sampling relative to Sections 217-A and 218-A of Act 182. The alternative test is recommended for approval only for the Caterpillar 3306 PCNA diesel engine and Brookville BCC-15UP diesel locomotive.

The TAC also unanimously recommended approval for the new (November 8) MSHA particulate data for the Caterpillar 3306 PCNA diesel engine. This corrects information in the Cyprus-Cumberland diesel-powered equipment package submission of September 12.

The TAC submitted a recommendation for developing standards of training and definition of the Section 211-A(c) "specially trained" person (for cleanup and disposal of diesel fuel spills).

The TAC commended Brookville Mining Equipment Corporation on their open cooperative attitude and manufacturing design of "no compromise" on safety.

The next regularly-scheduled meeting will be held on January 21, 1998, at 9 a.m. in Uniontown.

The meeting adjourned at 11:47 a.m.
