Welcome to Earth Day Central!

Focus on Biodiversity
SPACEPennsylvania is home to a collection of landscapes that support a diversity of life we call “biodiversity”. These ecosystems, the plant, animal, and insect species who are specially adapted to live here, and the genetic material these species carry make up our “Commonwealth” -- a rich natural heritage that provides us with the basic necessities for life on Earth.
SPACEEven though you will find biodiversity everywhere in Pennsylvania – from the largest fish in the deepest lake to the smallest bacteria in the darkest caves – this web of life is threatened. We must build an understanding of and work to conserve biodiversity -- our very existence depends on it!
