Enhancement Grants Program (EGP)

Section 309 of the Coastal Zone Management Act (CZMA) establishes a voluntary coastal zone enhancement grants program to encourage states and territories to develop program refinements in one or more of the nine coastal zone enhancement areas. An assessment and strategy is completed every five years through an evaluation of the CRM Program to determine gaps to build upon to enhance the effectiveness of the program. The nine enhancement areas include coastal wetlands, coastal hazards, public access, marine debris, cumulative and secondary impacts, special area management planning, ocean resources, energy and government facility siting and activities and aquaculture.
